Can cool and warm home decorating colors be mixed?

Yes, but sparingly. The warm chartreuse rug and bowl create dramatic design in the icy green bedroom pictured below. The ruby red throw pillow and the same cool red repeated in the artwork are surrounded by warm earthy colors in the sofa setting. A good rule to follow in using cool with warm is to choose only one color from the other group and repeat the color at least twice and no more than three times.
