That Compliment Warm Interiors
Homeowners love warm colors. Warm wall color and furnishings are chosen from the warm yellow-based group.
Warm Colors that Go Together

Add yellow to one of the primary colors in the cool family group and the color becomes a warmer color. The chair pictured here is upholstered in a warm red leather. The warm, yellow-based paint colors used on the sample walls are complimentary to the warm red chair.

Warm colors are shades of off white, warm grays, yellowed reds and soft terra cotta. In this family, blues and greens have varying degrees of yellow added. Pastels are described as dusty or powder-colored. dusty pink, powder blue, etc.
Can cool and warm home decorating colors be mixed?

Yes, but sparingly. The warm chartreuse rug and bowl create dramatic design in the icy green bedroom pictured below. The ruby red throw pillow and the same cool red repeated in the artwork are surrounded by warm earthy colors in the sofa setting. A good rule to follow in using cool with warm is to choose only one color from the other group and repeat the color at least twice and no more than three times.
Color is a dynamic element in your home's décor tying together room furnishings and accessories, as well as creating just the right mood. Everyone reacts to color differently, but cool colors are thought to be restful and warm colors revitalizing and invigorating.
